CRCC are now running the British Canoeing Start Award for our members.
The start award is the very first award for those who are new to the water and want to learn how to paddle in an enjoyable and safe way and is run with one of our qualified instructors.
The course is run on our weekly Sunday sessions for new starters and includes topics such as, what to wear, how to safely carry your craft, getting on and off the water, how to safely recover your kayak unaided and basic paddling strokes to start you on your paddling adventure.
Another important aspect of the Start Award is self-rescues, with and without a spray deck.
Each successful member will receive a certificate and can register this with British Canoeing.
As a club we are also looking at providing other British Canoeing awards in the future.
